What this service does
Mold in San Diego rarely comes from the weather alone. It shows up behind a dresser on an outside wall, under a kitchen sink that dripped for months, on a bathroom ceiling with no fan, or in a wall that took on water during the January 2024 flood. Finding help usually means calling one company after another and telling the same story each time.
This site cuts that down to one step. Fill in one request, and it goes to independent companies that work in your part of San Diego County. They contact you directly, ask their own questions and give their own quotes. Companies reply on their own schedules.
The site also explains, in plain words, what mold jobs tend to cost, how California rules work, when testing helps and what to ask before you sign. Prices are dated, published national ranges with named sources. They are not quotes.
What this service is not
- Not a mold company. San Diego Mold Experts does not inspect, sample, clean or remediate mold, and it does not rebuild anything. It has no technicians and no work crews.
- Not a claim of expertise. "Experts" is part of the site's name. It is not a claim about the site, and it does not describe work the site performs. The companies that reply are the ones that do the work.
- Not a licensed trade. California does not license mold inspection or remediation as its own trade, so checking credentials is up to you. The site holds no contractor license, and it cannot promise that any company that replies holds a particular license or certification.
- Not a contractor. The company you choose writes the scope, signs the contract with you, does the work and answers for it.
- Not an adjuster, lawyer or doctor. Guides on insurance, renter rights and health are general information, not insurance, legal or medical advice.
How the referral model works
Requests are free for you, and you never have to hire anyone. Independent companies may pay San Diego Mold Experts to receive requests or calls. That is how the site is funded. The site does not rank, rate or endorse companies, and it does not post reviews.
The phone number on this site is a local 619 number. Calls to it go through a call-routing provider to an independent mold company that serves your area, not to San Diego Mold Experts. The person who answers works for that company.
California has no mold-specific license, so there is no single state lookup that settles who is qualified. What you can check instead, based on what the Contractors State License Board (CSLB) classifications and rules show:
- A CSLB contractor license for repair work of $1,000 or more, any job that needs a permit, or any job with a crew. The minor-work limit rose from $500 to under $1,000 on January 1, 2025 (CSLB Industry Bulletin 24-07). Look it up on cslb.ca.gov.
- IICRC certification (iicrc.org has a public locator) and ACAC credentials (acac.org/find).
- A certificate of insurance.
- A written contract for home improvement work over $500, as Business and Professions Code §7159 requires.
Before you hire anyone: ask for the CSLB license number and certification numbers, get the scope in writing, ask who does clearance testing, and in an older home ask whether asbestos testing is needed before tear-out. See the step-by-step process.
