Terms of Use

The rules for using San Diego Mold Experts, a free service that connects people in San Diego, CA and nearby San Diego County towns with independent mold companies.

This website is owned and operated by Joe McGregor. Last updated November 6, 2026.

What this service is

San Diego Mold Experts is a referral service. It passes your request to independent mold inspection and mold remediation companies that serve your area. It is not a mold company or a contractor, and it does not inspect, sample, clean, remediate or rebuild anything. The word "Experts" in its name is part of the name, not a claim about the site or a description of work the site performs.

Free, with no obligation

Requesting quotes is free. You are never obligated to hire any company that contacts you. Companies may pay San Diego Mold Experts for the requests or calls they receive. The site does not rank or endorse companies, and companies reply on their own schedules.

The companies are independent

Companies that contact you are independent businesses, not employees or agents of San Diego Mold Experts. Any contract for work is between you and the company you choose. The site does not verify licenses, certifications, insurance or workmanship and cannot promise that any company holds a particular credential.

  • California does not license mold inspection or remediation as its own trade, so checking credentials is up to you.
  • Repair work of $1,000 or more, any job that needs a building permit, or any job where the worker employs others requires a CSLB contractor license (Business and Professions Code §7048, as amended effective January 1, 2025). You can look up a license on cslb.ca.gov.
  • You can check IICRC and ACAC certifications on their public locators and ask each company for a certificate of insurance.
  • Home improvement contracts over $500 must be in writing (Business and Professions Code §7159).
  • Older homes may contain asbestos materials, so testing before tear-out is best practice. In buildings with five or more units, San Diego County APCD Rule 1206 generally requires an asbestos survey and notice at least 10 working days before renovation that disturbs 100 sq ft or more of building materials.
  • If a company sells you its services in your home, Civil Code §1689.6 generally lets you cancel until midnight of the third business day (the fifth for seniors), or the seventh business day for repairs after a declared disaster. Whether it applies depends on the contract.

The site is provided as is. To the fullest extent the law allows, San Diego Mold Experts and its owner are not liable for the work, prices, advice, conduct, licenses, credentials or insurance of any company you contact through the site, or for any loss that results from using the site or relying on its information. Your remedies for a company's work are with that company.
